Itchy fingers

This time of year, I tend to get the urge to sew (again). And also to have a garden, but that's not happening anytime soon.

I just ordered this Built by Wendy pattern (sold out on her site, but there are a few on ebay):

I was especially inspired after seeing Laura's versions and reading her comments about them. As a not very experienced or confident seamstress, it's incredibly helpful to hear about other people's successes and failures. I had looked at this pattern for the dress before, but hadn't considered the top until she made one. Now I want, like, six.
Maybe in that great peacock-feather Liberty print or some of these fun fabrics (all images from Purl):



Love those Mackintosh roses.

I'm going to wait to buy fabric until the pattern actually gets here though. I might even work up a muslin of it first if I'm feeling especially sensible.

Oh, I can't wait to see what you come up with! I have been wanting to get back into sewing as well and plan to dust off my machine this weekend.

That pattern is made of awesome. Make your muslin out of something fun that you'd wear (but cheap, perhaps, or just not precious), so when it turns out great you haven't wasted your time!

Quick Tip: cut the back as one piece (cut it on the fold), rather than two, to eliminate the back seam on the top. It's necessary for the dress, but doesn't make a lot of sense for the top.

OK, the bunny print is too, too adorable, but that middle print--WOW. I think I'm going to have to splurge on it.

Love your fabric choices! I like the middle one best as well. I think there are a few Built by Wendy patterns available on etsy (just for interest).

I love the rabbit fabric, but I can't find that one either...did you get it a while ago??
